Space Foundation Discovery Center Announces Fall Events

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Aug. 29, 2024 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering education, collaboration and information for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a series of events in September and October. The programming offers a fun and safe environment for visitors of all ages to explore the wonders of space.

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 3
Event: Small Steps, Giant Leap
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Activities:
• Reading of Mars! Earthlings Welcome by Stacy McAnulty in Science On a Sphere®
• Martian treasure hunt activity (ages 2-5 years recommended)

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 4
Event: Homeschool Days: Acid, Base and Space
Time: 10:00 a.m.-4 p.m.
Activities:
• 10:30 a.m. Science On a Sphere® presentation
• 11:00 a.m. Chemistry rainbow and make your own bath bomb workshop (grades K-5 recommended)
• 1:30 p.m. Science On a Sphere® presentation
• 2:00 p.m. Chemistry balloon rockets workshop (grades 6-12 recommended)

Event: Family Star Party
Time: 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Activities:
• Telescope viewing
• Moon-themed activities
• Free admission to Star Party; Half-priced admission to the Discovery Center

Event: Tesla’s Toolbox: Electricity
Time: 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Activities:
• Electric pumpkin workshop at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (ages 7-12 years recommended)

Event: Cool Science Carnival at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

• Discovery Center educators lead STEM demonstrations and hands-on activities
