Space Foundation Discovery Center’s annual Family Symposium is a fun-filled, free event featuring science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
Space Foundation Discovery Center is the region's first and only dedicated space, science and technology center and museum. It is an interactive, education-focused destination.
Astronaut Panel & Signings: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Livingston L. Holder, Jr. (September 1956) was a USAF astronaut in the Manned Spaceflight Engineer Program during the mid-1980s. He was assigned to fly as a military payload specialist on the Space Shuttle but did not fly due to the Challenger accident in 1986. Holder trained and qualified as a Manned Spaceflight Engineer and Space Shuttle payload specialist from 1982 to 1988. Holder is one of the co-founders and the Chief Technology Officer of Radian Aerospace, that is developing the first crewed, single-stage to orbit capability. Kathryn Thornton is a veteran of four space flights and has logged over 40 days in space, including more than 21 hours of extravehicular activity (EVA, also known as a spaceflight). She retired from NASA in 1996 to pursue a career in academia.
