Dr. Morey will read aloud from his new book, “Good Night Little Astronaut,” a story written to inspire children to dream about their future STEM careers. Listeners will follow the young Latina astronaut protagonist as her parents read her a nighttime story to fill her dreams with great adventures of sailing the stars and exploring the mysteries of our galaxy, while also reassuring her that she is brave, smart, adventurous and ambitious enough to reach those ultimate heights.
Morey, who authored the book under the pseudonym Dr. Intergalactic, is CEO and founder of Ad Astra Media LLC, and he’s considered the first “Intergalactic Doctor.” Morey is also a health and technology keynote speaker as well as an author and consultant for NASA, Forbes, MIT and the White House Office of Science and Technology.
Immediately following the book reading, Ruth Butler, space education specialist at Space Foundation, will lead an interactive “Be Like an Astronaut” sensory box activity. The exercise will have early learners create a sensory box, discover objects within the box, match them to words on a provided worksheet, and think about how the items pertain to an astronaut’s job and life in space.
To date, early learners and educators from 16 U.S. states and seven countries around the globe have participated in the Small Steps, Giant Leap virtual series. To view prior lessons, please visit:
