Space Foundation Discovery Center Partners To Present Free ‘Water Detectives’ Interactive STEM Activity on Earth Day, April 22
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — April 19, 2021 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced that in celebration of Earth Day 2021, Space Foundation Discovery Center is teaming up with the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center to present a free STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) event “Water Detectives: Discover the Clues of Water on Earth and Beyond!”
Event: Water Detectives: Discover the Clues of Water on Earth and Beyond!
Date: April 22, 2021, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Venue: Garden of the Gods Visitor Center, Colorado Springs
Admission: Free for children ages 6-12 and parents/guardians
Young detectives will first hike the trails of Garden of the Gods National Natural Landmark to search for clues of where water has been present in the park, and then guides from Space Foundation Discovery Center will lead them on a simulated mission to locate water on other planets — one of the keys to sustaining life on future space missions.
The event, sponsored by ANB Bank, will be enjoyable for kids of all ages but is most appropriate for children ages 6-12. Parents must accompany children, and all participants, including parents, must be preregistered due to limited capacity. Masks are required for the duration of the program.
