Space Foundation Discovery Center Launches its “Get Folks in Coats” Winter Coat Drive

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 14, 2018) — Winter weather has already made its arrival to the Pikes Peak Region and this season, the Space Foundation will launch its first winter coat drive to help the community’s homeless population.

Now through Dec. 12, the Space Foundation will be accepting new and gently used adult and children’s coats. Donations can be made at the Space Foundation Discovery Center, located at 4425 Arrowswest Drive, Colorado Springs, 80907, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With each coat donated, guests will receive $1.00 off admission to the Discovery Center.

The coats will be donated to Springs Rescue Mission for distribution.

“Springs Rescue Mission is focused on providing life-saving care for the many men, women and children in our community facing poverty and homelessness this winter. The coats donated to the Space Foundation will not only save lives but will bring people in need closer to the services that will help them find dignity on their path to recovery,” said Stu Davis, Director of Mobilization, Springs Rescue Mission.

The Space Foundation is also offering a special incentive for Discovery Center Passport Members to donate coats. For each coat donated, Members will receive a ticket for a prize drawing to take place at the end of the year.
