Space Foundation Discovery Center Kicks Off Family Star Party September 9

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — September 7, 2022 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will kick off the first Family Star Party of the school year on Saturday, September 9, 7:30-9:30 p.m. The party will provide a fun, and safe outdoor learning environment for families to explore stars, nebulae, and galaxies through a variety of telescopes.

Event: Family Star Party: Astronomy Basics

Date: September 9, 2022

Time: 7:30pm – 9:30pm

Venue: Space Foundation Discovery Center, Colorado Springs

Admission: No fee for outdoor telescope viewing; half-priced admission for Discovery Center indoor activities

Activities:

  • Look through multiple telescopes and learn about the objects in our night sky from Colorado Springs Astronomical Society astronomy outreach guides and Discovery Center educators
  • Possible views of Saturn and the Harvest Full Moon
  • Interact with the Mobile Earth + Space Observatory’s scientific demos and exhibits
  • Engage with self-guided activities and Science On a Sphere® presentations in the Discovery Center
