Space Foundation Discovery Center Announces Upcoming Events

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — November 7, 2024 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering education, collaboration and information for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a series of events in November and December. The programming offers a fun and safe environment for visitors of all ages to explore the wonders of space.

Date: Saturday, Nov. 9
Event: Military Appreciation Day
Time: 10:00 a.m.-4 p.m.
Activities:
• Free admission for veterans, military personnel and their families with valid ID

Date: Friday, Nov. 15
Event: Family Star Party: Winter Constellations
Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Activities:
• Telescope viewing
• Star-themed activities
• Free admission to Star Party; Half-priced admission to the Discovery Center
• Special Science On a Sphere® presentations

Date: Saturday, Nov. 16
Event: Tesla’s Toolbox: Eggcellent Electricity
Time: 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Activities:
• Eggcellent Electricity workshops at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (ages 7-12 years recommended)

Date: Saturday, Nov. 23
Event: Cool Science
Time: 10:00-4:00 p.m.
Activities:
• STEM demonstrations and hands-on activities

Event: Small Steps, Giant Leap
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Activities:
• Free admission
• Reading of Penguinaut! by Marcie Colleen in Science On a Sphere®
• Galaxy penguin painting activity (ages 2-5 years recommended)

Event: Homeschool Days: Polyfoam Creations
Time: 10:00 a.m.-4 p.m.
Activities:
• 10:30 a.m. Science On a Sphere® presentation
• 11:00 a.m. Foaming gnome workshop (grades K-5 recommended)
• 1:30 p.m. Science On a Sphere® presentation
• 2:00 p.m. Polyfoam molding and design workshop (grades 6-12 recommended)

Event: Family Star Party: Exploration of Jupiter
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Location: Meadows Park Community Center Parking Lot
Activities:
• Telescope viewing with Colorado Springs Astronomical Society and Discovery Center educators

Event: Cool Science
Time: 10:00-4:00 p.m.
Activities:
• STEM demonstrations and hands-on activities

Event: Tesla’s Toolbox: Cookie Circuits
Time: 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Activities:
• Cookie circuit workshops at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (ages 7-12 years)
