Space Foundation Announces Audience with an Astronaut, Free Virtual Educational Series

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Jan. 26, 2023 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced the virtual educational series Audience with an Astronaut will begin Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The six-part series, co-sponsored by the United States Air Force Academy Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Outreach Program, is free and open to anyone nationwide. The programming includes Q&A segments, audience engagement via polls and videos, and STEM hands-on activity lessons and features Retired USAF Lt. Gen. and Former NASA Astronaut Susan Helms. Helms has flown into space aboard Shuttles Endeavor, Atlantis, Discovery, and Columbia, and has served aboard the International Space Station. She has spent a total of 211 days in space, including establishing a world record for the longest spacewalk at 8 hours and 56 minutes.
