Meet Former NASA Astronaut, Christopher “C.J.” Loria at the Space Foundation Discovery Center July 30 and Aug. 6
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 28, 2016) – Taking the small steps that help us make giant leaps, astronauts are on the frontline of space exploration. Drawn from many backgrounds and professions, these bold explorers help us push the frontiers of science, engineering and the future of humanity.
This summer, the Space Foundation Discovery Center has been celebrating the Heroes of Space, Visionaries, Scientists, Engineers and now Astronauts, each with its own two-week theme. The final theme of the summer, “Astronauts,” begins this Saturday, July 30 and concludes Saturday, Aug. 6.
Each Saturday, there will be extra hands-on activities and special presentations to inspire the entire family. This Super Saturday, July 30, join us from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for these activities, included in the price of Discovery Center admission*:
- Meet and Greet with former NASA astronaut C.J. Loria at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Mad Science demonstrations
- Special Science On a Sphereâ presentations
- Green screen photo opportunities
- Scavenger hunt with prizes

The featured traveling exhibit for the summer is Super Kids Save the World, presented by Children’s Hospital Colorado and hosted locally by Pikes Peak Children’s Museum. This interactive exhibit is designed for children ages two through 10 years, and helps them learn that by taking simple steps in their daily lives, they can become eco-friendly superheroes in their own communities.
