Join Space Foundation Discovery Center for Fun-Filled February

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Jan. 31, 2023 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a series of events for February. The events will provide a family-friendly way to learn about the wonders of space in a fun and safe learning environment.

Event: Homeschool Day: Moon, Mars and Artemis
Date: Wednesday, February 1
Time: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Venue: Space Foundation Discovery Center, Colorado Springs
Admission: General Admission plus $5 materials fee. Passport members receive complimentary admission.
Activities:
Science On a Sphere® presentations
• Self-guided activities include priority packing and Mars/Earth comparison
• Afternoon Workshop: Mars Lander

Event: Small Steps, Giant Leap: Mars/Astronauts (for ages 2-5)
Date: Tuesday, February 7
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Venue: Space Foundation Discovery Center, Colorado Springs
Admission: No fee

• Reading of Mousetronaut Goes to Mars by Mark Kelly
• Guided Science On a Sphere® presentations
• Engage in paper bag space helmets activity

• Guest panel of women who work in the STEAM industry featuring Melinda Bradley, Systems Engineer at Parsons Corporation, Anagha Indic, Software Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, Inc. and more.

• Learn about the weird world of magnetism and how it improves technology
• Workshops from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Event: Discovery Center Astronomy Club (for ages 15-18)

• Present findings on mini-journal club

Admission: No fee for outdoor telescope viewing; half-priced admission for Discovery Center indoor activities.
Activities:
• Look through multiple telescopes and learn about the objects in our night sky from Colorado Springs Astronomical Society astronomy outreach guides and Discovery Center educators
• Interact with the Mobile Earth + Space Observatory’s scientific demos and exhibits
Possible views of Mars, Jupiter, Venus and the Moon
• Engage with self-guided activities and Science On the Sphere® presentations in the Discovery Center
