Join Space Foundation Discovery Center Feb. 26 for John Glenn Celebration

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Feb. 25, 2022 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of John Glenn’s Orbital Flight this Saturday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a special activity at 11 a.m. The event will provide a family-friendly way to honor John Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit Earth. In four hours and 55 minutes, Glenn circled the globe three times in the space capsule Friendship 7.

Event: 60th Anniversary of John Glenn’s Orbital Flight

Date: Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022; 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with a special activity at 11 a.m.

Venue: Space Foundation Discovery Center, Colorado Springs

Admission: Admission plus $5 materials fee

  • Make and bake John Glenn’s favorite chocolate cake — limited to 20 seats
  • Presentation about John Glenn in Science On a Sphere® theater
