Tesla’s Toolbox Workshops: Gravity, Orbits, and Years…OH MY!

Event Details:

Join us as we return to Tesla’s Toolbox workshops at the Discovery Center in honor of genius engineer and inventor, Nikola Tesla 1856-1943, and energy pioneer to learn about Energy. As the new year approaches, the workshop will be full of activities expanding our understanding of gravity, orbits of celestial bodies and how this causes what humans refer to as “years.”

Workshop Activities:
 Demonstrations:
– We will recreate the effect of a black hole on the fabric of space time – Creation of a gravity experiment in the space simulator Activities:
– Participants will learn about, then use a particle & gravity simulator to create their own gravity experiments in space simulations – Then, we’ll bring the same concept of gravity/orbits right back to something you may already have at home or have used – Finally, participants will create a hands-on orbit simulator which they will take home to remember the main learning point of gravity & orbits Workshops are on a first-come, first-served basis. $5 materials fee in addition to SFDC General Admission.
This event will be the MOST fun for ages 7 and up.
Parents must accompany children. (specific demonstrations or workshop elements may change without notice)
