Space Exploration: From the Earth to Pluto to the Big Bang

Explorers joining us this week will journey through space and time as we learn about the Universe and our human understanding of it. From our own wondrous planet Earth and its interconnected systems and spheres to the varied destinations within our solar system – Sun, planets, moons and more – participants will learn and experience the most current information from missions happening all over our solar system.

Before our adventure is complete, we will venture beyond our solar system to gain an understanding of the Universe beyond our celestial neighborhood by exploring stars and astronomy, black holes and white holes, and even time-traveling machines like the newly operational James Webb Space Telescope.

  • Explorers will spend five days engaged in hands-on science activities and experiments connected to real-life space missions and will gain a new sense of wonder and awe for our universe
  • Explorers will experience how NASA explores space — with humans, robots and spacecraft
  • Explorers will research the Martian terrain with Rovers, build and fly their own satellites, launch rockets and land safely

Activities, experiments, and experiences will include*:

  • Solar viewing (safely) with telescopes
  • 3D design and printing and its uses in space exploration
  • Spacecraft design, building and testing - making physics work for us
  • Keeping humans alive on another planet: food, water, oxygen, and more
  • Learning about exoplanets, how we find them, then creating one of their own
  • Training like an astronaut
  • Protecting humans from radiation
  • Creating rocket fuel and launching rockets with multiple fuel sources
