Space Foundation Discovery Center Announces December Events

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Dec. 1, 2023 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering information, education and collaboration for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a series of events in the community during December. The events will provide an opportunity for the whole family to engage and learn more about the wonders of space in a fun and safe learning environment.

With the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Discovery Center, the events will take place off-site at various locations around the Colorado Springs area. Throughout the renovation process, Discovery Center team members will be actively engaging and educating the community through outreach initiatives at various venues. Event: Small Steps, Giant Leap: Interstellar Cinderella (for ages 2-5)
Date: Tuesday, Dec. 5
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Venue: Hillside Community Center, Program B Room, 925 S Institute St, Colorado Springs
Admission: No fee
Activities:

• Create your own space crown to take home

Event: Homeschool Day: Space Mining (For grades K-12)
Date: Wednesday, Dec. 6
Time: 10-11 a.m.
Venue: 21c Library, conference room, 1175 Chapel Hills Dr, Colorado Springs
Admission: No fee
Activities:
• Self-guided activities include core sampling and asteroid mining
• Draw a mining robot and plate tectonic puzzles to take home

Event: Family Star Party
Date: Friday, Dec. 15
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Venue: Meadows Park Community Center, 1943 S El Paso Ave, Colorado Springs
Admission: No fee for outdoor telescope viewing

• Letters to Santa station
• Free holiday family photos
• Coloring and craft station
• Grab-and-go s’mores, cookies, and hot chocolate
