Event Details:
Planets, a Comet, and NORAD Tracks Santa — Oh My!
Join us as we aim our telescopes below Venus just after sunset to get a view of Comet Leonard.
We will also be joined by NORAD Tracks Santa! Come learn how NORAD has been tracking Santa on his sleigh for 65 years and create a fun Space & Santa craft.
We don’t often have the opportunity to see a comet, so this is a great chance to come out for a fun and exciting evening with us for Family Star Party!
Activities
Outside (weather permitting) —
- See Comet Leonard through the telescopes
- Planet viewing (Jupiter, Saturn, Venus)
- Viewing the near-full Moon
- Enjoy the Mobile Earth & Space Observatory (MESO*)
- Telescope support provided by members of Colorado Springs Astronomical Society
- Hot cocoa and cookies!
